Mindful Gifting

Mindful Gifting

Posted on

When we’re searching for a gift, whether it’s for friends and family, a corporate event, the holidays, a birthday, or simply a thoughtful “this made me think of you,” how often do we pause to consider the impact behind it?

At Wirth, our hope is that more people choose to invest in gifts that carry meaning. They might cost a few dollars more than the usual throwaway swag, but we believe the value and the impact are worth so much more.

We recently partnered with Visier Inc. for their team day on Grouse Mountain in Vancouver. Every team member received a custom Wirth x Visier Hat and had the chance to connect with us to learn more about our story and mission. We believe the best gifts spark meaningful conversations, and our day with Visier was exactly that. More than 500 employees had the opportunity to choose from six custom hat designs and engage with the Wirth brand in a memorable way.

The power behind mindful gifting.

When you buy a gift from Wirth, you’re doing more than giving a gift. You’re helping fund mental health support for those who need it most; you’re investing in something that shares a story; you’re reducing the stigma surrounding mental health; You’re spreading kindness and empathy for others; you’re helping support and build a community of openness. You’re contributing to a cause that makes a real difference.

Whether it’s Wirth or another brand, choosing purpose-driven, mindful gifting allows you to make a statement while creating a deeper, more meaningful connection with the person who receives it.

Some questions to ask yourself when mindful gifting:

  1. Is the business committed to supporting important causes? Or even better, are they an active part of the cause and the impact being made?
  2. Is there a bigger meaning/story behind the gift?
  3. Are they made ethically?
  4. Are they made for quality or cheaper mass-production?
  5. Is this a product people are likely to use over and over again for a long time?

The Story Behind Wirth Hats

Wirth was founded in honour of Jakob Wirth, a beloved friend and hat enthusiast who tragically lost his life in 2014. To honour his memory, co-founder Ben Miller created 25 hats for close friends and family.

Years later, Wirth Hats was reborn as a tribute to Jakob and others lost to suicide—a reminder that we are never alone. Hear the full story from Ben here.

What started as a gesture of remembrance has grown into a movement that fuels mental health advocacy and open conversation through every hat sold.
