The name Wirth comes from Jakob Wirth. Ben (co-founder) and Jakob went to school together in Copenhagen, Denmark. Jakob was in the early stages of creating a hat company when he met Ben. Unfortunately, Jakob passed away from suicide before he could launch his hat company. Wirth Hats is named in honour of Jakob’s dream.

See our story page to learn about how Wirth Hats started.

Wirth Hats is a realisation of Jakob Wirth dream, Jakob was in the early stages of creating a hat company when he passed from suicide. Second, we believe everything starts and ends with our heads; our thoughts, feelings, emotions, ambitions, fears, desires and dreams. It’s where our mental health lives. The word “Wirth” is pronounced the same as the word “worth” and means: “ to have value, to be important”.

Wirth is primarily a volunteer-based company with no full-time employees, but rather a group of passionate team members dedicated to catalysing change in the mental health space. Wirth Hats operates as a social venture alongside Wirth Foundation, which holds charitable status.

Wirth Hats launched the Wirth Counselling Program in 2019 with the goal of breaking stigma around professional support while providing support to individuals who struggle to afford counselling services. Since then, we have helped cover the costs of thousands of therapy hours for individuals who would otherwise be unable to afford them. In 2023, Wirth Foundation was created to further increase our mental health impact and counselling support. Wirth Foundation is a registered charity that works alongside Wirth Hats to provide therapy for individuals who cannot afford.

Millions of individuals are in need of mental health support yet are unable to afford. Mental health support can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges. Through therapy, individuals can gain insight into their behaviours and patterns, develop coping skills to manage stress and regulate emotions, build resilience to navigate life's challenges more effectively, and receive support for a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and more. To date, Wirth has sponsored over 6500 therapy hours.

If you could use support but are unable to afford therapy, please visit wirthfoundation.org.

Our online portal will take no more than ten minutes and you can receive up to eight sessions of free therapy support

We exist to make a mental health impact, for no other reason. See our Impact page to learn more.

$10 of each hat goes towards Wirth Foundation, which provides therapy for individuals who cannot afford. However the actual total amount can be a fair bit more with resources and events put on by Wirth Hats to raise awareness and money for Wirth Foundation

At WIRTH, we want to be transparent with everything we do, including where your money goes. We manufacture locally in Vancouver, with one of the last standing local suppliers. Many steps are done by hand, and we are close by to ensure product quality. Our average Manufacturing cost is $20 (indeed, inflation has found us as well). Additional expenses such as boxes, tags, postcards, stickers adds $4. We allocate $10 of each hat sale to the Wirth Foundation. You may scale up this donation, and 100% of the additional funds go to the foundation. Our company overhead is $20 per hat. These funds support various initiatives and activities, including: Our staff, operations, marketing and investing in larger production runs to make Wirth Hats accessible to more individuals. As well as organizing events and other mental health campaigns that raise money for Wirth Foundation (Artist Series, Quad Tandem fundraiser, Check in on your Homies campaigns, etc.) This leaves approximately $6 as company profit. Any profit is directly invested back into the company so we can keep WIRTH healthy, happy, and keep hugging more heads!

All our hats are made in Vancouver, Canada. Each one is crafted from scratch, following a secret Wirth Hat recipe that specifies style, color, and embellishments. Wirth Hats is dedicated to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship, ensuring every hat reflects this commitment.

We do! We love making hats for other companies and brands. Visit our B2B page or get in touch with us at contact@wirthats.com.

We are all uniquely imperfect, so are our hats.

Each hat is designed to champion the essence of Wirth. That’s why, in the final stages of production, each piece is finished off with a unique stitch. To symbolise that the sum of our parts - imperfections and all - are what make us, us.

On every Wirth product page, you will see an impact slider where you have the option to increase your impact. Any amount you add will go one hundred percent towards supporting therapy for individuals through Wirth Foundation. Each additional dollar given has a significant impact, whether it translates into 10 or 60 therapy minutes given. It all adds up to making an impact in someone's life.

The Wirth Hats Artist Series started in 2020 to bring together mental health and art in a creative way. To date Wirth has partnered with over 15 artists from different parts of the world who have put their artistic touch on one of our blank cream hats. The artist is given roughly three weeks to complete the hat, at which point, the Wirth Artist Hat is raffled off with proceeds going towards the WIRTH Hats Therapy Fund. If you are an artist interested in being apart please send us an email at: contact@wirthhats.com
