At Wirth Hats, we believe mental health matters at every stage of life.
As we age, our experiences shape us, but they also bring new challenges—especially when it comes to mental health. Anxiety, loneliness, and self-doubt don’t magically disappear with time; in fact, they can sometimes deepen. Yet, in each chapter of life, there’s a chance to find resilience, connection, and peace. What if the key to a fulfilling life isn’t avoiding worry, but learning to embrace it, releasing the fears that hold us back? Because mental health doesn’t fade with age—it evolves, and it deserves just as much care and attention.
Recently, we had the privilege of working with a few senior friends (Judith and Paul) for a photo shoot that celebrates the power of connection across generations. This shoot wasn’t just about hats—it was about capturing the beauty that shines through life’s ups and downs, showing that mental health doesn’t have an age limit.
During this shoot, we had the opportunity to ask Judith and Paul a few questions about their life.
If you could give one piece of relationship advice to a younger person, what would it be?
Judith: Don't be who others want you to be; be yourself and stay true to who you are. As you go through life, certain people will expect different things from you, so make sure you hold onto what's important to you.
What’s one piece of advice you would give for someone going through a tough time?
Judith: There will be hard times, but you’ll get through them. Try to process it and live through it, as there is always the other side. If you’re fortunate enough to have family, let them help you and lean on them.
Paul: It will get better—don’t panic. Try to stay positive.
What’s one piece of advice you would tell your younger self?
Judith: Do what you fear. Take the chance, no matter what age you are."
What is key to living a fulfilling life?
Judith: Keep moving forward. Do things you fear. Challenge yourself.
Paul: Whatever happens, happens. Don’t panic. Sometimes money is important, and sometimes it’s not at all. Try not to take things too seriously. Even when you’re going through a hard time, you will get through it.
What's one thing that's brought you joy in your life:
Paul: My friends, friendships have brought me a lot of joy
Ageing is often met with assumptions and misconceptions, but beneath the surface lies a lifetime of rich stories and enduring strength. Thank you Judith and Paul for sharing the day with us, for your honesty and for helping us make mental health less big & scary for any age.
We hope you enjoy our new collection.
