Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do for ourselves is something small—but deeply intentional. For Wirth Hats team member Nathalie, that act was simple: buying herself flowers every Friday. This small but meaningful ritual became the inspiration behind one of our most beloved and purpose-driven designs—the Flowers on Fridays Hat.
The Origin of the Flowers on Fridays Hat
If you’ve been part of the Wirth Hats community for a while, chances are you’ve seen our Flowers on Fridays hat—or maybe you even own one. As we bring back this community favourite, we want to share the heartfelt story behind its design.
Nathalie has been part of the Wirth story since our very first batch of 25 hats in 2014, created to honour Jakob Wirth. In the early days of her motherhood journey, she experienced postpartum depression—a common yet often isolating challenge many women face.
How a Small Ritual Became a Symbol of Hope
In an effort to reconnect with joy and find stability, Nathalie began a simple act of self-care: buying herself a bouquet of flowers every Friday. Over time, this turned into something far more powerful—a reminder of beauty, resilience, and intention.
When we’re navigating depression, the future can feel distant and unreachable. Even basic daily tasks can be exhausting. But Nathalie’s ritual—this quiet, consistent moment of choosing beauty—helped her stay grounded and gave her something to look forward to each week.
Her act of bringing fresh flowers into her home was not just about the flowers. It was about self-love, gratitude, and reconnecting with joy. It helped her begin to apply this intentional perspective in other parts of her life.
What’s Your Version of Flowers on Fridays?
For Nathalie, it was flowers. For you, it might be something else:
- Special Treat Tuesdays from your favourite bakery
- Wednesday Walks—20 minutes of music, a podcast, or silence on a local trail
- Sunday Morning Coffee on the porch with a book
Whatever it is, we hope you find your own version of Flowers on Fridays—something that gives you a little spark of joy, a moment of peace, or a reminder to take care of yourself.
A Hat That Means Something
The Flowers on Fridays Hat isn’t just about style—it’s a symbol. It’s a wearable reminder to practice self-care, check in with yourself, and bring intentional joy into your life.
Take care of yourself. Check in on your homies. And find your flowers 🌼
