Wirth: A Reintroduction

Wirth: A Reintroduction

Posted by Nic Smith on

When were you first introduced to Wirth? Was it through a friend, Instagram, or an event? Maybe it was even this article that brought you to Wirth. No matter your journey and how long you’ve been following ours, we have always pushed the same message: to make a difference in the mental health world and to be a living memory of Jakob Wirth and his dream.

If it's your first time here at Wirth, we’re very happy you are here. And if you are a long-time supporter, we deeply thank you, as it's been quite a journey. When Wirth started, our goal was simple: to get as many hats onto people's heads as possible, for the hats to become a symbol of mental health, and for the story of Wirth to make an impact on those who were willing to listen.

About a year ago, we had a conversation with the incredibly talented Glasfurd and Walker about the opportunity to make a shift to Wirth. It was something we had thought about for a while but were waiting for the right partner, one that fully understood our purpose in the world.

So here we are, A Wirth Reintroduction.

Wirth is a social venture that champions radical self-worth through quality hats and mental health counselling. In the world that instils self-doubt Wirth leads with a radical idea that we’re worthy just as we are and present vulnerability & imperfection as strength.

Our new logo reflects this strength and vulnerability through its perfectly imperfect form - it moves, evolves and changes; mirroring the journey of self-discovery that each person undertakes in life.

The visual identity is bold and impactful in its aesthetic but has hints of the human touch in hand-drawn illustrations, imperfectly drawn lines in the logo and monogram. This gives the brand a distinctive emblem that truly represents who we are and what we care for.

“Wirth inspires people to believe they’re worthy as they are by welcoming them in the community that embraces mental health & imperfection. This ethos is echoed in every stitch of their crafted goods and every interaction within their community. The brand has personal, hand drawn illustrations throughout that loosely depicts moments in time, thoughts and daily interactions in a whimsical and approachable way - this causal and personal approach helps destigmatize the discussion of mental health.”

- Phoebe Glasfurd (Cofounder & Creative Director, Glasfurd & Walker )

“When I reflect on the story of Wirth and my two friends, Jakob and Philipp, who were lost to suicide, I can't help but wonder, if they had believed they were worthy as they were in that moment, on that day, would they possibly still be here today? Could that belief have given them the resilience to make it through that day. I believe it's possible.” “Does believing in one's worth have the power to influence decision-making in those moments or provide the resilience needed to handle intense thoughts and feelings, I believe it can. If you visit the Wirth about page, you'll find this statement: 'In a world where we are continuously hindered by self-doubt,
we lead the radical idea that we are worthy as we are; not next year, not tomorrow, but right now’. We aspire to live in a world where the belief in our inherent worth is the norm.”

- Ben Miller (Cofounder of Wirth Hats)

Thank you for being here, thank you for your support. We are excited to have you a part of this next Wirth chapter!
